“At Houston Powder Coaters, Green isn’t Just a Color… It’s a Way We Conduct Business”.
Plain and simple, powder coating is the most environmentally responsible metal finishing process.
Since no solvents are used in its application, negligible amounts of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) are released into the atmosphere. Furthermore, electrostatically sprayed processes, like the ones Houston Powder Coaters employs, are now specified by the EPA as a Best Available Control Technology (BACT) to help reduce air pollution.
While powder coatings have many process and performance advantages over traditional wet coating systems, the Clean Air Act of 1970 was instrumental in placing powder coating at the forefront of eco-friendly industrial processes. Unlike some finishes, powder coating contains no heavy metals or harmful carcinogens and produces less hazardous waste than conventional liquid coatings.
As discussed in the “Frequently Asked Questions” section of the website, thicker coatings can be applied in single pass powder systems without the appearance of runs and sags that would be seen in wet coating systems. The ecologically-friendly process is also economically-friendly due to the faster processing speeds. And with a fusion-bonded, cross-linked, hardened shell, powder coating produces a superior finish that is more abrasion, corrosion, and chemical resistant than wet paint applications.
Houston Powder Coaters is committed to keeping Houston clean by providing environmentally responsible protective coatings. If you have additional questions, or need supplemental data sheets, please contact email@example.com.
